This policy applies to Complexio, a skin tracking app for iOS.
Short version: every scan sends your photo to an AI processing provider, which is the only way Complexio can score it. We keep no copy of that photo on any server of ours, and your scores, routine and history stay on your device. We do not sell your data, we do not use it to train AI models, and there are no accounts. Complexio is not an offline app, and this policy explains exactly where your photo goes and what else leaves the device.
The following is written to your device's local app storage and is not uploaded to us:
Deleting the app deletes all of it. You can also erase it from within the app at any time.
This is the part that matters most, so it is spelled out in full.
If you would rather not have a photo analysed at all, do not run a scan — the routine checklist and the rest of the app work without one.
The label declares Photos or Videos — collected, used for App Functionality, not linked to your identity, and not used for tracking. That is the scan photo described above. We do not declare facial recognition, a face template, or a faceprint.
The product events in the Analytics section are separate: product interaction, the plan on a trial or purchase, and Apple Ads campaign identifiers when Apple provides them. None of that is linked to your identity, and none of it is used for tracking. The App Store label lists those three with the version of the app that records them.
An image of your face is personal information, and in some places it is treated as sensitive. Complexio does not perform facial recognition, does not attempt to identify you, does not match your face against any database, and does not build a face template or faceprint. The analysis measures visual characteristics of skin — texture, tone, evenness — and produces a score. Nothing about it is used to recognise a person.
Complexio Premium is sold through Apple, using Apple's own in-app purchase system directly. Payment is handled entirely by Apple — we never see your card details. There is no third-party purchase or subscription SDK in the app, so no outside company receives a customer identifier or your payment details. Apple still shows us the aggregate sales figures it reports to every developer. Separately, the app records that a trial started or a purchase completed, and which plan it was. That record is described under Analytics.
Complexio records six product events: the first successful scan, a view of the subscription screen, a trial starting, a purchase, a return on the next calendar day, and a return on the seventh calendar day. Each event is the event name, the time, and a random install identifier created on your device. A trial or a purchase can also include which plan it was, monthly or annual. Your photo, your scores, your readings, your name, and your email are never included.
A copy of each event is stored on our server, in its own table, and it never travels with the photo request. We do not sell these rows, we do not use them to recognise you, and we do not send them to an advertising company or an analytics company.
If you installed Complexio from an Apple Ads campaign, Apple can tell the app the campaign, ad group, and keyword identifiers for that install. We store those identifiers on the same event row when Apple has provided them. The app also sends Apple a conversion value through SKAdNetwork so Apple Ads can report the install. This is Apple's own attribution. It is not used to track you across other companies' apps.
The rows are anonymous. There is no account to attach them to. Delete everything in Settings, and uninstalling the app, erase the copy on your device. They do not erase rows already stored. We cannot match a deletion request to those rows, because they contain no name and no email, only the random install identifier.
If you turn on reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device. We do not operate a push server and cannot send you anything.
Because we hold no account and no server-side copy of your photos, scores, or profile, a deletion request cannot be matched to a person. The anonymous product-event rows described under Analytics stay, for the reason given there. The other exception is the short abuse-monitoring window at our AI provider described above, which expires on its own within 30 days. If you have a question about any of it, write to us and we will answer.
Complexio is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has used the app to take a scan, contact us and we will help.
Complexio is a cosmetic tracking tool. It does not diagnose skin conditions, does not detect skin cancer or any other disease, and is not a substitute for professional medical advice. A score is an estimate from a photograph. Speak to a clinician about anything that concerns you.
If how we handle your photo or your data changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top is updated. Material changes will also be surfaced in the app.
