There is no account, and your garden stays on your device. Your ZIP code is matched to a weather station on the device and is never sent. The only thing the app ever sends is optional anonymous usage counts, described below, which never include your garden or your location. We do not sell data and we do not use it for advertising or tracking.
Your gardens (their names, your ZIP code or the frost dates you typed, the seeds you added with any variety names and packet numbers, your own plants, the jobs you ticked, your pick counts and stickers) and your settings are written to on-device storage on your iPhone or iPad. We never receive them and cannot see them. Deleting the app deletes them.
The frost dates (NOAA NCEI U.S. Climate Normals 1991–2020) and the ZIP code locations (U.S. Census Bureau ZCTA centroids) are built into the app. Finding the nearest weather station happens on your device; your ZIP code is not sent to us or to anyone else. SowWeek does not use location services and never asks for your location.
“Share anonymous usage counts” is on by default. From version 1.0.1, SowWeek says so on its first screen (and once, on the first launch, if you used an earlier version or never see that screen), and you can turn it off at any time in Settings. While it is on, SowWeek sends daily totals of a few product events to our own server (version 1.0: at most once a day; version 1.0.1 and later: when you leave the app): app opened, first garden shown, subscription screen shown (and where it was shown), plan selected, subscription screen closed, purchases restored, and (from version 1.0.1) what a purchase attempt ended in (completed, cancelled, pending, failed, or no product available). Each total carries a coarse days-since-install bucket. The post also includes the app’s name and version, your device language, and your App Store country. There is no install ID, no advertising identifier, and no garden, seed, ZIP code, frost date or location. Turning it off deletes any counts not yet sent, and off stays off. Development builds never send.
SowWeek Pro (monthly or annual subscription) and the Lifetime purchase are sold through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment and tells the app whether you have Pro. We never see your payment details or your Apple Account.
“Export garden” creates a file and hands it to the app or place you choose; we receive no copy. “Import garden” reads a file you pick and replaces the gardens on this device after you confirm. The printed garden (PDF) is made on the device and shared only where you send it.
SowWeek sends no notifications and asks for no permissions (no location, camera, photos or contacts).
SowWeek is not directed at children under 13.
If this policy changes, we will update the date above.
